John Hill. By The Young 'Uns

Written by Sean Cooney of The Young 'Uns about the husband of his Great Grandmother Mary Jane, who she married in Sunderland in 1913. John Hill died a year later with thousands of others in the opening months of First World War and is buried in the little French town of Bailleul.

Mary Jane eventually remarried and gave birth to another 11 children one of whom is Sean Cooney's Nana.

Billy Bragg's performance closed the No Glory in War concert on 25 October 2013 at St James's Church, Piccadilly, London. His five songs included Between the Wars and a new song he'd written from a Thomas Hardy poem, titled The Man He Killed
